Evan Williams Wins 2014 ACS National Award

ESD’s Evan Williams recently won the Frank H. Field & Joe L. Franklin Award for Outstanding Achievement in Mass Spectrometry, awarded by the American Chemical Society—one of four ACS awards given out to LBNL scientists.


ESD Leads Microbiome- to Watershed-Scale Study

ESD Division Director Susan Hubbard will lead a multiyear study funded by DOE’s Biological and Environmental Research office that will develop a predictive understanding of how the genomic functions of subsurface microbiomes affect watershed-scale biogeochemical processes.

ESD’s Baptiste Dafflon recently received word that he had been awarded the prestigious Paul Niggli Medal, for his “original research contributions to the geophysical exploration of aquifers and permafrost environments.”

Oldenburg Wins Outstanding Reviewer Award

ESD Geologic Carbon Sequestration Program head Curt Oldenburg has recently been recommended for the 2012 Editors’ Citation for Excellence in Refereeing for the journal Water Resources Research.

ESD’s Jonny Rutqvist (Staff Scientist) and Frederic Cappa (affiliated staff from University of Nice, France) received the 2013 Rock Mechanics Research Award from the American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA).
