Distinguished Alumni Award to Susan Hubbard

ESD Division Director Susan Hubbard has been elected as a 2014 member to the University of California Berkeley Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Department Academy of Distinguished Alumni. Membership in the Academy, as described in the announcement, “recognizes and honors the outstanding career accomplishments and contribution of Cal CEE alumni in business, government, and academia.”

The induction banquet will be held on the U.C. Berkeley campus on Thursday, Oct. 9 at the University Club, Memorial Stadium. The event begins with a reception at 5:30 pm followed by a dinner. Tickets to the banquet will be available at a later time.

Susan received her Ph.D. from the U.C. Berkeley CEE Department in 1998, for her dissertation (directed by Yoram Rubin) on the stochastic characterization of subsurface properties using geophysical data (and the simplification assumptions that are involved)—a field now known as hydrogeophysics.
