Join us in Wishing Dr. Witherspoon a Very Happy Birthday

Witherspoon_blogDr. Paul A. Witherspoon turns 93 today.

The Geothermal and Sciences Program he led out of the Energy and Environment Division (now EETD) had enough long-term funding, scope, and progress that then Laboratory Director Andrew Sessler appointed Witherspoon as the first Earth Sciences Division Director (1977-1982). 

He is a Professor Emeritus with the Department of Material Sciences and Engineering, UC Berkeley and is a Geological Senior Faculty Scientist with Berkeley Lab, Earth Sciences Division.
