This month (October 2011), ESD’s Curt Oldenburg, Barry Freifeld, Karsten Pruess, George Moridis, Lehua Pan, Stefan Finsterle, and Matthew Reagan were all winners of the coveted DOE Secretary’s Achievement Honor Awards. The Honor Awards represent the highest internal non-monetary recognition given to DOE employees and contractors for providing exceptional service to the Department and the American people.  The Achievement Honor Award is given to groups or teams for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions. The ESD group was specifically awarded for their work on leak flow rates related to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon Gulf oil spill.

DOE Secretary Steven Chu will present this prestigious award to ESD scientists at a ceremony on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at DOE Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Congratulations to you all!
